Annual Swim-a-thon

Dear all,
Coach G will be engaging the swimmers for the
annual swim a thon which benefits the Van Laskos scholarship awarded
each year to a swimmer who embodies the spirit of Van. You can
read more about this in the attached document.
The Swim a thon will be Wednesday, February 8 at
the pool beginning at 3 pm.
This is a meaningful event for the swim team and
all swimmers are strongly urged to participate.

which is hosted by the Freshmen class. Freshmen parents we need

Banquet Planning Meeting - Date Change

changed the date/time of the meeting so we are not back to back with
Counties.
The new date is Saturday, February 25 from 1:00 to

Important updates for the weekend
1/26/2012
Dear all,
Please look at the B meet sign up (for this
Saturday). We still have needs for timers and if we cannot fill
timing slots we will be forced to shut down the concession stand early
to re-vector volunteers. Please give us some of your time!
There will be a team social at the Morris Plains
Community Center from 6 to 8:30. This will be a movie night
- your swimmer can wear PJs and bring a blanket for the floor if they
like. Sophomores are hosting this pasta party and dinner
will be served promptly so we can view the entire movie.
Any questions on donations from Sophomore parents
should be directed to Marie Reilly.
If you would like to contribute to a gift for Coach
Bobby please let me know.
A Banquet planning meeting will be held on Feb 5 at
our house. Please let me know if you are interested in working on
the banquet.

Coach Bobby and his wife have a new baby boy!
We would like to provide Bobby and his wife with a gift card from the

Wow! What a wonderful meet where lots of exciting things happened. We had
16 personal best times:

- Tyler Huhn - 200 IM & 100 Breast

- Mike Crowley - 50 & 100 Free
- Molly Diller - 100 Butterfly

The boys are only 1 second away from breaking the school record in two of the three relays and have now qualified all three relays for MOC's. Matt Mitchell and Mike Lopinto have also qualified individually.

Dear Parents:
We wanted to send out some advance notice on
important dates:
- The annual Swim a Thon will be on Feb 8. More
details will follow
- The Swim Team Banquet will be on Sunday, April
15 at the Madison Hotel from 1:00 to 5:00. If you are interested in
being more involved with the planning and execution of the Swim Team
Banquet, a planning meeting will be held at the home of Sue and
Bruce on Feb 5 as indicated in a previous email. All who want to
work are welcome to attend
- Life Guard training will begin on Feb 20th.
Tell your prospective life guard to look for information during
their phy ed classes or directly from Coach G. The prospective life
guard must be 15 years old by the last class which is on March 1st.

Dear Parents,
Please see the attached list of A and B Meet
Swimmers. Coach is still working on the events and some swimmers
may still go either way, so consider this a first cut, but directionally
correct.
Also there have been some schedule changes.
The Senior Meet is on February 1 - more details to follow on that.
The meet against Morris Knolls has been cancelled but we will swim
Millburn on February 7 at 4:15. Coach is also working to schedule
the swim-a-thon, possibly on Feb 8.
There will be a team social on January 27 at the
Morris Plains Community Center. Time and details to follow.

the meets - we will be looking for your help at the B meet as well!

Update on clothing order
1/3/2012
Okay, we've received the long-sleeve t-shirts, the
parent t-shirts, and the maroon and grey sweat pants. These will be
given out tomorrow, so please make sure if you ordered any of these
items, that your swimmer pick them up at the swim office. The remaining
order of hoodies, lacrosse jackets, fleece jackets, and rugby shirts
should be ready by the end of the week/early next week.
We still have available parent t-shirts in large,
aluminum water bottles, and drawstring bags. If anyone else is
interested in the long-sleeve t-shirt, which came out great, by the way,
please let me know and I will put in another order. Thank you.

Happy New Year everyone! The holidays are behind us and January
promises to be a very busy exciting swimming month. As a reminder, we
are preparing to host four big meets as follows: The Boys "A" meet
Invitational on Jan. 20th, the Girls "A" meet Invitational Jan. 21st,
the Boys/Girls "B" meet Invitational Jan. 28th, and the Morris County
Championships Feb. 4th.
Please consider placing a Spirit Ad or Spirit gram for your
swimmer or place an ad for your business. These Spirit ads
and Spirit grams are included in all four swim meet programs. This
is a huge fundraiser for the team. 100% of the proceeds benefits
the team!
Encourage local businesses to take out ads, especially your
swimmers' favorite coffee shops, eateries and restaurants. Spirit Ads
are a way to let our swimmers know that we support them and we are very
proud of their accomplishments. Encourage your swimmer to take out
Spirit grams to support each other.

Dear Parents:
I hope that everyone enjoyed a wonderful holiday
and all are anticipating a healthy and successful 2012! I wanted
to take this opportunity to remind everyone that in a few weeks the
season will really kick into high gear with several invitational meets
followed by the Championships. We need your help through your
active volunteering and participation during the meets. We must
increase the number of parents who volunteer during these few weekends
or we will be in jeopardy of not having enough manpower to staff the
meets. If you have not volunteered in the past, please take
this opportunity to give it a shot! Are you intimated by timing?
We can train you - it is the best job as you are on deck! Want to
work concession -- great place to chat and catch up with old friends and
other parents -- there are jobs for everyone and we need your help AND
IT IS FUN!!!
I promise you that if you can volunteer a two hour
shift YOU WILL HAVE FUN!! And, I am so firmly convinced of
this that.......if you volunteer and you don't have FUN, Bruce and I
will take you out to dinner!
Sign ups will be going out soon. Please take
this opportunity to join the swim team community in the volunteer
position of your choice- we really need your help. And if you

advertisements and inspirational messages to be included in all four
swim meet programs. This is a huge fundraiser for the team.

You can help!!! Take out an inspirational ad for your swimmer or
place an ad for your business. Encourage local businesses to take
out ads. Encourage your swimmer to take out Spirit grams to support
each other.

Tuesday 6 am practice for Girls! then regular
practice afterschool.

Parent Social to be held this Saturday, December 3. This means
that we have not heard from 95 of you!!! Please let us
know as soon as possible, but not later than Tuesday if you will be able

Also, as you know Colonial Relays are Friday - we
will also be asking for additional help at concessions and timing as
well as some donations. Please help.

Pool Reopened & Calendar Updates
11/21/2011
The pool reopened today. Practice schedules
are back on track including the 6:00am practice on Wednesday.
Also, there was an update to the calendar for three meets:
12/16 Randolph at MHS Pool;
1/13 Mountain Lakes at MHS Pool
2/1 Union at MHS Pool
The Randolph meet was previously on the calendar but without a location.
All three meets are at 4pm.
No 6AM practice tomorrow 11/21

The 6AM practice tomorrow is cancelled. The
pool is open and there will be practice after school. However the
early morning practice is cancelled for tomorrow morning.

Center. Donations can be dropped off beginning at 5 pm. The

As I am sure you have heard, the pool was
accidentally drained. While we are working to re-fill and re-heat
the pool we will be having swim team practices as follows:
- Tuesday, November 15 - Organizational Practice
and Dryland only 2:45 - 4:30
- Wednesday, November 16 - Dryland Practice 2:45
- 4:00
- Thursday, November 17 - SWIM PRACTICE
AT MORRISTOWN BEARD 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm ** See note below
- Friday, November 18 -SWIM PRACTICE AT
MORRISTOWN BEARD 8:00 pm to 9:00pm ** See note below
- Saturday, November 19 -Time Trials -
Cancelled!
There will be a bus leaving the HS Thursday, at
8:30 pm and all swimmers are expected to take the bus. The bus
will return swimmers to the school after practice.
Swimmers MAY NOT drive to practice. If parents wish
to pick up their swimmers from MO-BEARD you MUST
send in a note to Coach G.
We will keep you posted on developments.

Hello everyone,
The swim team clothing order form is now available
on our team website. Please use the 2011-12 Team Clothing link and
download the order form. We are offering pretty much the same clothing
as last year with the addition of the parent t-shirt. The aluminum
water bottles are on Clearance! Only $5.00!. Please be mindful of the
due date which is Friday, November 4th.
The California Beach Hut will not be able to attend
our time trials. For those interested in purchasing swim related items

Dear all,
Just a reminder to all about the Swim Team Meeting
tomorrow night, Thursday, October 20, at 7:30 p.m. Please bring
$10 per swimmer (or send it to me).
Also, we have a good roster of Committee heads but
are looking for some support/volunteers in the following areas:
Clothing Sales - Deenah Lopinto will take this over
from Shari Ramirez but needs a couple of helpers as Deenah is also
heading up the California Beach Hut sales as well as Spirit Ads.
Parent Social - For the last two years we have had
lovely parent get togethers at the homes of swimmers. Parents help
out by donating food and drink. Anyone interested in volunteering?

Swim Team Meeting Reminder - Please read

Hi all,
Just a reminder that we will have a mandatory swim
team meeting this Thursday, October 20 beginning at 7:30 in the
cafeteria. We will be collecting the annual dues which will remain
$10 per swimmer. This amount goes towards swim suits and begins to
fund the concession purchases. As the collection of fees can
be chaotic, if you want to avoid the lines you can also mail a check
made out to MHS Swim Team Boosters to me at: 14 Raskin Road, Morristown,
NJ 07960.

I am happy to annouce that it is that time again! Swim Team season is
going to be starting up. Please join Coach G for a mandatory Parents
and Swimmer Meeting on October 20 in the HS Cafeteria at 7:30 pm.
If you know other potential swimmers, please share this with their
parents.
I apologize to those who have swimmers who have graduated; I dont yet
have a new, scrubbed email list.

Dear Swim Team Parents:
Swim team season is just over a month away. Everyone, including
staff and students, are extremely excited about starting. We are
coming off a very successful season and are anticipating another highly
competitive year. Our annual parents meeting will be held on
October 20th, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. in the student cafeteria. This
meeting is mandatory for all swimmers and at least one parent/guardian
must be in attendance. This meeting will also be an opportunity
for swimmers and parents to meet the coaches and learn more about this
season’s Morristown High School swim program.
In addition, we will be discussing an opportunity for our swimmers to
participate in a fall swim clinic here at the high school.
Again, I look forward to meeting each and every one of you on October
20th at 7:30 p.m.
