State Tournament Info

In early February the NJSIAA seeds teams into bracket playoff meets for the state championships.  Teams are seeded based on Powerpoints they earn at meets during the regular season.  Each team's Powerpoints determines their line-up on the brackets and whether they have home pool.

There are ten initial brackets or sections which are listed below:

The A and the B are designations for school size.  A schools being larger the B schools.  The cutoff is somewhere around 1,100 students.  Separate champions are determined for Boys and Girls and for A school and B schools.  Within the northern part of the state there are more schools so the are two North divisions I and II.  The winners of each division meet in semi-finals to determine a North champion.  Again, for A and B schools and for boys and girls.  The same thing happens in the Central and South.  Central and South meet in semi-finals to determine and Central/South champion.  The North winner meets the Central/South winner in the finals.  This happens four times; A, B, boys, and girls.  Private schools repeat this process in their own tournament.  They are just not divided by region.

Morristown is in Public - North II - B.  The eight teams in our bracket (section) and their Powerpoints are listed below:
